The Battlefield 6 server browser is scheduled for December 8, bringing persistent lobbies that will let players stay together between rounds on their chosen server. In its October 21 update, the team also announces Platoons and changes to Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City for Season 5’s third phase.
The distinction that matters is how players join a match: selecting a server through the browser is intended to provide continuity between rounds, while existing matchmaking may still move players elsewhere.
Choosing a server will let players stay together
For owners of the game, the browser is set to appear as the first tile in the Quickplay menu. Its persistent lobbies should allow players to continue from one round to the next on the server they selected, keeping the same group together beyond a single match.
Official playlists and Custom Search will continue to offer matchmaking alongside the browser. They may place players on official servers that also appear in the browser, but can move them to another server between matches according to their map and mode preferences.
A server appearing in the browser therefore does not guarantee continuity for someone who joins it through matchmaking. The announced choice is between selecting a server to stay on and using matchmaking, where map and mode preferences can lead to a change of server.
Platoons bring shared statistics and a squad XP bonus
Also scheduled for December 8, Platoons will support up to 100 players at launch, with group names and custom squad tags. A dedicated tab will let players create or join a Platoon and view its cumulative gameplay statistics.
Members will receive an XP bonus when they play together in the same squad. Membership alone is not the announced condition: the bonus is tied to squad play with fellow Platoon members. Its size has not been specified.

European Casino arrives before the browser
Season 5’s phase 2 is scheduled for November 10, with European Casino, the Casino Heist event, multiplayer leaderboards and balance adjustments. European Casino is described as a close-quarters map set in a European casino; the event is due to arrive alongside it.
For that phase, the team is working on reducing the power of extended magazines for the SCW-10 and KV9 and strengthening some rarely used attachments. Those adjustments are still being finalized, so their final values and effects remain unsettled.
The December 8 phase will then change Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City. The announced revisions include greater separation between headquarters, space around the edges to flank positions, and new access routes to rooftops and objectives. These changes are intended to expand the ways players can approach positions; whether they improve combat balance will depend on how they work in matches.
For players who want to keep a group together across rounds, December 8 is the date to watch: the browser’s persistent lobbies address that specific need. Matchmaking remains available, with the trade-off that its map and mode preferences may take players to a different server between matches.
