Dogs will be tied to specific locations
The dogs will be tied to designated areas, including military zones, and will attack players who enter their territory.
Two breeds are announced: the Dobermann and the German Shepherd, each with several variants. The dogs will not be tameable or available as companions. The team says it plans more complex canine behaviors than simple attacks, but has not given a timetable for that development.

A mouflon and a desert monitor for Nasdara
The mouflon is presented as a natural fit for Nasdara because it mainly lives in the mountains and steppes of Central Asia.
The desert monitor lizard will live primarily in the Dasht-e Sarman desert and nearby areas. According to the dev blog, it will flee quickly when it notices the player, while the announcement also mentions the possibility of hunting it for food. The team cautiously describes it as possibly the first reptile in DayZ.
No precise release date yet
The dev blog says that the release of DayZ Badlands is close, but does not provide a specific date. The wildlife details remain in development and may change before launch.
The announced dog system combines fixed territories, attacks on intruding players and a restriction against taming or companionship. The team also plans more complex canine behavior, but has not provided a timetable.
