Don't Starve Together concludes its From Beyond story arc with Cursed Confrontation Part 2. In its October 22, 2026 announcement, Klei announces the update as available on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation. The Nintendo Switch release will follow completion of Nintendo's certification process.
The finale continues the Shadow quest, but the additions also reach earlier stages of a run. Rare creatures with their own loot join the early game, while Klei reports improved loading speeds when travelling between Forest and Caves.
The Shadow quest resumes at the Ancient Gateway
The continuation picks up after players have brought the Keystone to the Ancient Gateway. For anyone returning to the Shadow storyline, that delivery marks where the new quest content follows on. It is a progression milestone, rather than a complete guide to reaching the story's conclusion.
The caves also receive new narrative interactions tied to using the Possessed Atrium to revive the Odd Skeleton. This connects the revival to the update's narrative additions, alongside the quest continuation at the Ancient Gateway. Klei identifies the interaction without detailing how the new scenes unfold.
Elsewhere, Hound Batilisk and Rock Master are among the new rare early-game spawns. Each comes with its own loot, adding rewards tied to these encounters. Their placement brings additions to the opening stages of a run as well as the later Shadow storyline, but their rarity means players should not expect to encounter them in every run.

Faster journeys between Forest and Caves
Klei also announces faster loading during travel between Forest and Caves. The improvement concerns the transition between these areas: less waiting for the destination to load is the intended benefit. Klei provides no timing figures, so the size of the gain remains unquantified, and the announcement does not guarantee identical results on every machine.
The Butterfly Wardrobe skin joins the Chitinous Collection among the announced streaming rewards. Alongside the story and creature additions, it gives the update a cosmetic component. Its claim requirements and availability window are not established in the announcement, so the skin's inclusion alone does not explain how or when to obtain it.
Switch follows after certification
Klei's October 22 announcement lists Steam, Xbox and PlayStation availability, while the Switch version remains conditional on Nintendo certification. Switch players therefore have a release condition rather than a calendar date; the announcement does not give them the same availability confirmation as players on the other listed platforms.
For players returning to the Shadow quest, the Keystone delivery is the point to check before pursuing the continuation. On Switch, certification remains the condition to watch before planning a return around the finale.
