The Fallout 76 PTS has been open since August 26, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. Bethesda is evaluating the game’s upcoming native version with an announced target of 60 FPS. Actual performance may vary depending on the console and compatible display.

In its official announcement, Bethesda describes the server as a public evaluation phase designed to collect performance and stability data under real-world conditions. The publisher says a separate communication about the regular version will follow.

Console access and temporary progress

  • The test covers Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro.
  • On Xbox, access is provided through the Xbox Insider Hub and the Fallout 76 PTS preview.
  • On PlayStation, Bethesda directs players to its Discord server and the #76-announcements channel.
  • PTS progress does not transfer to the online game.
  • The test content is announced in English.

On Xbox, open the Xbox Insider Hub app and search for the Fallout 76 PTS preview. The process depends on the Xbox Insider program, and the PTS appears as a separate version of the main game.

On PlayStation, Bethesda identifies its Discord server as the reference point for access information. The #76-announcements channel should provide the instructions for testing on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. The official post remains the place to check if those details change.

Progress is separate in both cases. It does not join the regular save and does not persist between different test cycles. Players should therefore approach the PTS as a temporary environment rather than a way to advance their main character.

What testers can observe on each setup

The 60 FPS target applies to all three consoles covered by the announcement. Bethesda also mentions 4K on a compatible display for Xbox Series X, Xbox One X and PlayStation 5 Pro. Xbox Series S is not included in this dedicated 4K list.

VRR is planned for Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. Bethesda also cites 1440p on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 Pro, while previous-generation platforms remain associated with 1080p in the published information.

These specifications give console players concrete points to check: frame-rate smoothness, display compatibility and stability across different hardware configurations. The 60 FPS target could make the image feel smoother, but it is not a guarantee of the final result. Bethesda did not announce a release date for the native version in this post.

Joining the PTS therefore offers a way to help evaluate Fallout 76 on compatible hardware, provided players accept temporary progress and English test content. For console-specific information, consult Fallout 76 hub and our article on the Xbox Series PTS opening for Xbox Insiders.
