Update 1.7.26.13 adds a story that unfolds weekly, introduces Legacy Seasons and accompanies native Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 versions. The Slasher story unfolds week by week
Players begin The Slasher by selecting the “Breaking News” station in their Pip-Boy. Further developments in the world are then relayed through The Debunker radio station, while new parts of the story arrive each week.
Bethesda’s notes do not specify an exact launch time, time zone or end date for this story arc. That means the weekly structure is confirmed, but the post does not establish a more precise schedule for its deployment or conclusion.
Legacy Seasons bring back an earlier track
Legacy Seasons let players progress through a past season alongside the current one, using the same ticket pool as regular seasons. The first is Armor Ace and the Power Patrol in Cold Steel, which is scheduled to last for the entire season.
Season 10, Red Rocket 'Across America' Presents: The City of Steel, is due to become available with the winter update. Bethesda does not provide a more precise calendar date in these notes.
New seasonal fish and their associated food recipes are scheduled for September 22. Captain Raymond will provide a note with clues about where to catch them, giving players an in-game lead when that content becomes available.
The update also lets players modify the legendary mods on unique weapons and armor and add a fourth legendary mod. Season 26, Beware The Blood Moon, adds rewards inspired by the upcoming spooky season. The patch notes additionally list fixes affecting armor paints, C.A.M.P. items, workshops, shelters and items distributed by the Mr. Farmhand collectron.
Native Xbox Series and PS5 versions require a full redownload
Native versions of Fallout 76 are available through the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 stores. Players who want those versions must redownload the complete game from the relevant platform store.
Bethesda announces a target of 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. On compatible displays, 4K is announced for Xbox Series X, Xbox One X and PlayStation 5 Pro. Variable refresh rate support is also announced for Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, with a 60-frames-per-second cap.
On PlayStation, PS5 and PS4 Pro support 1440p, while previous-generation platforms retain 1080p. These figures are Bethesda’s stated targets and display features, not independent measurements. The notes also do not specify which regions are covered by the store availability.
The download is larger because of repackaging
Bethesda attributes the unusually large update to a technical repackaging. The download is expected to be larger than usual on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, after which the game’s total installed size should decrease.
