Minecraft has announced nine new additions for Java Realms on Java Edition, alongside updates to three existing maps. The selection was presented in an official article published on September 28, 2026.

Mossholder, an adventure map created by TEHEK, is described as a shifting maze where every door costs moss. Escaping depends on managing that resource while navigating the changing layout.
The mini-game Tightrope Rider, credited to CR_019, ABraHam_Sid_ and XuanYu1725, moves the action between skyscrapers. Players cross ropes, collect diamonds and avoid seagulls and flying robots.
Broken Sphere, an Inspiration by taha4444 and _Wofflan_, places a city inside a broken sphere floating among the stars. Minecraft’s description mentions shops, fishing, farming and exploration as activities planned for the setting.
The remaining additions are listed in the article’s “Also Releasing Today” section: the world templates Wisdom Bay and Deserted Desert; the Inspirations Celestial Void, Xianqiu’s Tree and Wystern Empire; and the Experience Logic Book. The nine additions therefore extend beyond a single map type or game mode.
Three existing maps receive updates
Battle Dome is the map formerly known as Trident Dome. Its update adds the Swarm map, the “Gears” ability and three new events, alongside additional changes and fixes.
Percy’s Park adds Percy’s Workshop and a Badlands theme for Thrill Grounds. The update also introduces footprints and a “sit-anywhere” feature, with technical and visual improvements affecting several attractions.
For The Purple, Minecraft lists gameplay and balancing changes as well as technical improvements. The announcement specifically mentions the /trigger leave command, simpler cosmetic customization, new items and victory dances.
How to load a Java Realms addition
From the Minecraft start menu, open Minecraft Realms and select Configure. Choose Reset World on the slot that should be replaced, then select a map from its category. For a mini-game, use the Minigame slot before choosing the content.
That step matters because Reset World applies to the selected slot. Minecraft also says that players who have not tried Realms can follow the blue diamond icon to start a free 30-day trial. The announcement does not specify the regions or additional conditions for that offer.
Java Realms is receiving a mix of new formats rather than a single themed release, while three existing maps gain fresh activities and systems. Anyone loading one of them should verify the target slot in Configure first, since the replacement action is tied to that selection.
