Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 opens for pre-orders on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 26, 2026. The Open Beta will then be available to everyone from August 28 to September 1, with no code required. Watch the official trailer. Preloading begins on August 26 at 9 a.m. PT.
The beta starts August 28 at 10 a.m. PT and ends September 1 at 10 a.m. PT. The official Call of Duty announcement confirms the schedule in PT.
More than a multiplayer trial
The beta includes multiplayer and the “Entrenched” campaign mission. Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence will also be playable on the Zodiac map, giving the event a broader scope than a standard multiplayer-only test. The announcement does not specify the full extent of the available content.
All Nintendo Switch 2 players can join the session, but multiplayer requires an Activision account, a Nintendo Switch Online subscription and an Internet connection. The no-code access therefore removes the invitation barrier without changing those requirements for online play.
Switch 2 features and progression
Infinity Ward is leading native development with Digital Legends. The Switch 2 version will support Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, gyroscope controls, the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, HDR and handheld mode.
Cross-play and cross-progression are also planned. Players will be able to carry progress across multiple platforms, subject to account-related conditions.
Release scheduled for October 23
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 23, 2026. Digital pre-orders include early campaign access from October 16.
The game is also planned for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Xbox on PC and Steam.
