Scam With Your Friends Hotfix 2, announced on Steam on October 16, 2026, adds Steam invite links to the join-by-code feature and addresses problems with lobby limits, speech recognition and caller voices.

Joining lobbies through searches and invites

The official Hotfix 2 notes specify lobbies for 1 to 8 players, with corrected enforcement of those limits. The change concerns how lobby limits are applied; it does not establish an increase in maximum capacity.

Public lobby searches receive improved filters and a “My version first” sorting option. This puts lobbies matching your game version ahead of others in the list. It is a sorting change, with no promise of compatibility between different versions.

The join-by-code feature now accepts Steam invite links as well as codes, and reports invalid codes. If a friend sends you a Steam invitation link, you can use it through this feature; an invalid code now produces an error message.

Voice fixes cover recognition, loading and startup

The update notes announce reduced speech recognition delays and additional filtering of spurious music captions. They also report a fix for crashes when speech recognition starts on older processors running Windows. Typed dialogue remains available as another way to enter exchanges.

Caller voices receive separate fixes. Hotfix 2 addresses a stall while loading those voices and reduces memory use when loading custom caller voices. The notes provide no measurements for either the recognition speed improvement or the memory reduction, so neither should be read as a quantified performance gain.

A Qwen3 startup problem that blocked caller input is also listed as fixed. Clearer troubleshooting messages accompany that change, and the notes reiterate that Qwen3 can be disabled if it runs too slowly.

AI failures and temporary usage restrictions now appear as status messages instead of fabricated caller dialogue. This changes how a technical interruption is presented: players should be able to distinguish an unavailable response from something the caller is actually saying.

Editing existing callers through Daily Callers

Character Creator now opens directly to caller creation. To modify an existing caller, use Daily Callers. The separate Localize Voice buttons have been removed, changing the navigation for players returning to edit their characters.

The in-game browser also gains a privacy confirmation before it opens or is restored. Leaving your computer within the game now closes its browser session. These changes concern the in-game browser’s confirmation and session behaviour; they do not establish a general security guarantee.

The announced fixes address specific obstacles to joining friends and using voice features. If Qwen3 remains too slow, disabling it remains an available option; typed dialogue also remains available.
