Scam With Your Friends Hotfix 3 brings back Whisper voice recognition support for older Windows processors with AVX but without AVX2, according to the patch notes published on October 16, 2026. It also adds microphone sensitivity controls and fallback options for connection failures.
Windows ARM PCs, including Snapdragon devices, gain experimental support for Whisper and callers’ voices. Qwen3 TTS remains unavailable on these machines, so the expanded compatibility comes with a specific limit on voice features.
Whisper compatibility and voice startup fixes
In the Hotfix 3 notes, the team also announces fixes for crashes when starting Whisper and text-to-speech on affected Windows PCs. These address startup failures alongside the restored support for processors that have AVX but lack AVX2.
Players whose PCs cannot run voice recognition now receive a warning. The message also points to the available alternative: typing text to callers. That gives affected players a way to respond when speech recognition cannot run on their hardware.
Qwen3 TTS now requires a compatible GPU. It also automatically disables itself if speech takes more than five seconds to start. That threshold determines when the feature switches off; it is not a promise that speech will always begin within that time. The notes do not name compatible GPU models.
Microphone sensitivity is adjustable from the phone
To access the new control, hover over the phone’s microphone button. Sensitivity for voice recognition can be adjusted from 50% to 200%, with a percentage display and color feedback. The selected value is saved, so players do not have to enter it again each time.
The control adjusts microphone sensitivity for speech recognition. It serves a separate purpose from the Windows compatibility changes: adjusting the percentage does not replace the hardware support needed to run Whisper.

Connection fallbacks and broader knockdown protection
A new fallback connection route is available when the main connection address cannot be reached. For recordings used in the boss’s evaluations, Hotfix 3 adds a separate recovery option: transfers can go through Steam if the usual video connection fails.
Each fallback responds to a particular failure. The alternative connection route handles an unreachable main address, while the Steam transfer handles recordings when their usual video connection fails. Neither amounts to a guarantee that every connection problem is resolved.
Knockdown protection also changes player interactions. When either of the 2 players has enabled it, the protection now prevents damage and tackles between them as well as knockdowns. Both players therefore do not need to activate the setting for that protection to apply.
For players affected by voice compatibility problems, the key changes are restored Whisper support and the announced startup fixes. Windows ARM support remains experimental, while Qwen3 TTS retains its separate hardware requirements and automatic shutdown threshold.
