The English dub of The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, on Crunchyroll, with episodes released weekly. Viewers waiting to follow the season in English can plan around a gradual rollout.
An exact release time and availability in France remain unconfirmed. If you are watching from France, check the episode listing and its available audio languages before planning a viewing session: the announced date alone does not establish availability in the French catalog.
A weekly release beginning October 21
In its October 19 announcement, Crunchyroll sets October 21 as the start of the English dub. October 19, 2026, is the publication date of the announcement, so the dates refer to separate events: the announcement and the scheduled debut.
The weekly cadence matters if you prefer watching several episodes together. Following the dub from its debut means watching as episodes arrive; waiting for a larger selection means allowing the weekly release to progress. This announcement concerns the English-language version and does not establish a release schedule for a French dub.
Xanthe Huynh voices Siesta and Noches
The cast announced for Episode 1 includes Austin Tindle as Kimizuka and Arryn Zech as Natsunagi. Xanthe Huynh is credited with both Siesta and Noches, giving her 2 named roles in the opening episode's English voice cast.
Those credits apply to the first dubbed episode. They identify who voices these characters at the start of the release, but should not be read as a complete cast list for the season.
Jason Lord serves as voice director, while Heather Walker handles the adaptation for the first English-dubbed episode. Their roles concern the English dub's performances and adapted script, distinct from the animation production credits.
Manabu Kurihara returns at ENGI
Manabu Kurihara returns to direct Season 2 at animation studio ENGI, with Deko Akao handling series composition. These are the season's animation and writing credits, separate from Jason Lord's voice direction and Heather Walker's English adaptation work.
The anime adapts the light novels written by nigozyu and illustrated by Umibouzu. Their credits identify the creators of the original literary work behind the animated series.
For viewers choosing when to start, the practical distinction is between following the English dub weekly and waiting for episodes to accumulate. Crunchyroll's announced rollout supports the former from October 21; watching several dubbed episodes together requires waiting beyond the debut.
