Gaijin will reorganize the ground research trees of Germany, the USSR, Great Britain, China, Italy and Israel in the next major update of War Thunder, according to a roadmap published on August 25, 2026. The change covers six nations and the placement of their vehicles within the existing trees.
Six nations will receive reorganized research trees
A dedicated icon will identify vehicles affected by the reorganization. This should make changes easier to spot when players compare the revised layout with the current research paths. The announcement does not yet provide the complete list of relocations or the new sequence for every vehicle, so the practical impact will only become clear when the updated trees are available.
A useful marker, but not the full picture
The icon is a sensible clarity measure for players already progressing through one of these nations. It will not, by itself, explain how each research line has changed. The usefulness of the reorganization will depend on whether the final layouts make those links and vehicle positions easy to understand.
The T-72B3A rank change is postponed
Gaijin has postponed the planned rank change for the T-72B3A. No new schedule is given, so the vehicle is not included in the rank changes announced for this stage.
The price of the premium Cromwell V (RP-3) will remain unchanged. This pricing clarification is separate from the structural changes to the ground tech trees.
The next major update is the stated milestone, but no precise deployment date has been announced. The six affected trees are known; the detailed research paths will need to be checked in official Steam post once Gaijin publishes more information.
