About the game

RimWorld - Biotech is an expansion for the colony management and survival game RimWorld. It keeps the base game’s focus on fragile settlements, emergent stories and hard choices, while adding systems that can reshape an entire campaign. Players can build around a mechanitor, raise children, create genetic lineages or deal with new forms of pollution.

The mechanitor path is built around a colonist linked to a mechlink and able to command mechanoids. These machines can haul, farm, build or fight, but they require real infrastructure: power, rechargers, gestators, bandwidth and toxic waste storage. Biotech therefore treats mechs as a powerful industrial route rather than free labor, and rewards colonies that plan before scaling production.

The expansion also introduces pregnancy, children, growth vats and genetic modification. Colonies can gain new members through birth, support their learning, or design xenotypes with specific strengths and weaknesses. This gives RimWorld - Biotech a broad identity, mixing family management, mechanoid industry and biological experimentation while staying close to RimWorld’s core appeal: unpredictable stories created by systems colliding with each other.
