What the Switch 2 edition adds
Hello Games confirms that the Nintendo Switch 2 edition supports full multiplayer, crossplay and cross-save from launch. The original Switch version did not include full multiplayer, and owners can upgrade to the Switch 2 edition for free. The Nintendo France product page lists online play for 1 to 4 players. All online modes require a paid Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
How to join a No Man’s Sky Switch 2 crossplay session
Hello Games announced crossplay for the Switch 2 edition, but official sources do not publish a complete table of compatible platform combinations. The Steam page mentions Nintendo Switch in its section on crossplay and cross-save, but does not name Switch 2 there. The game is listed as having cross-platform multiplayer, but that does not confirm every possible pairing.
- Cross-platform groups can be created or joined in-game or from the startup screen; see the crossplay notes.
- Hello Games’ notes say a friend can be added with a unique code and managed from the Network Options page.

Transfer a save to another device
Cross-save lets you share your progress across multiple devices. It requires authentication with a Steam, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo account linked to a Hello User ID. The most recent save is automatically uploaded to the server and can be downloaded from another connected platform.
- Open the Cross-Save manager from the save selection screen.
- Download the save you want to local storage.
Up to five saves can be stored in cross-platform storage. If 2 files differ in size and timestamp, the game asks which version to keep.

Protect your online saves
The Disconnect all accounts option permanently deletes the Hello User ID and saves stored on Hello Games’ servers. It does not affect local saves.
