Your Warzone match can turn before the first duel. Choose a drop with loot, cover and an exit, collect plates and leave before the gas or an opposing squad dictates the fight.

Give every move a purpose: loot, complete a contract, buy equipment or reach the circle. Playlists, loot and prices can change with the seasons, so check the official patch notes for updates.

Choose a drop with cover and a way out

Open the map as soon as you enter the plane. Mark a landing building, a fallback position and a nearby Buy Station. Major points of interest attract more teams, so their edge is often a better starting point: look for several buildings and a covered route out.

On landing, grab a weapon, plates and ammunition. Supply Boxes can also contain weapons, ammunition, Perks, Gas Masks and cash. Do not cross an avenue for a box if you have neither cover nor a fallback.

  1. Choose a short landing area and a Plan B before the jump ends.
  2. Land together, but do not all use the same door.
  3. Apply plates and collect ammunition after finding your first weapon.
  4. If a team lands on the roof, disengage through the back or via a zipline.
  5. After a few buildings, move towards the planned contract or station.

Pick a contract that fits the route

Contracts start from the computers visible on the Tac Map, and the whole team can mark them. The official site lists Scavenger, Bounty, Intel Station Upload and Big Game Bounty contracts. The useful choice is the objective that follows your route.

For your first rotation, take a contract in your half of the zone. Ideally, it should finish closer to a Buy Station. A Bounty can work when the target is nearby and the team is already equipped; otherwise, it pulls you into a duel chosen by the opponent.

A Scavenger contract is easier for learning how to loot quickly. Abandon it if the caches force you across an exposed street or towards held high ground.

Use the Buy Station without becoming a target

Buy Stations turn cash into plates, Killstreaks, weapons, loadout Perks or redeployment, which makes them attractive to opponents. While one player buys, the others should cover the approaches and the escape route.

Do not buy out of habit. Fix the missing item most likely to cost you the next fight. Without plates or a reliable weapon, protection and equipment come before an ambitious purchase. If an ally is eliminated, redeployment often becomes the priority.

A buyback fires a red flare visible from a distance, so leave the station after buying. Prices also change with the seasons. Season 2 2026 patch notes, for example, raised the UAV price from $6,000 to $8,000.

Leave before the gas cuts off the route

The gas reduces the playable space. A Gas Mask buys time, but its durability drops in the gas. Use it for a street crossing, a route around a building or a planned escape.

Check the next circle before it closes. Prefer continuous cover, high ground you can descend from, or a vehicle when the distance is too great. A slightly longer route is better than sprinting in the open.

Horizontal ziplines can speed up some flanks, but they remain dangerous if an enemy has spotted you. Get off at the first shot. Esports content, other tips and the latest news can also help you follow seasonal changes.

Enter the Gulag with a simple plan

In Battle Royale, your first elimination normally gives you one Gulag attempt while it remains open. The official format describes a duel with equal weapons. Eliminating the opponent or exfiltrating through the central ascender lets you return to the map.

As soon as you spawn, check the weapon you receive. Choose a left, right or central angle, but do not automatically cross the middle lane. Use your equipment to reveal the opponent's position, listen for footsteps and move behind cover.

After a win, do not automatically return to your body. Ask for a safe redeployment area, then loot first so you can become useful to the team again.

Frequently asked questions

Which location should I choose for my first drop?

Choose the edge of a point of interest, with several buildings and a nearby exit. A highly visible roof may offer loot, but it often forces an early duel.

Should I complete every contract I find on the way?

No. Keep contracts that fund your next purchase without breaking your rotation. Abandon one if it requires crossing open ground.

What should I buy first at the Buy Station?

Address the most urgent gap: plates, a reliable weapon or bringing back an ally. Have the station covered, then leave as soon as the purchase is confirmed.

When should I rotate, and how should I use a Gas Mask or zipline?

Rotate early if the route to the next circle has neither cover nor a vehicle. Save the Gas Mask for a short crossing or a planned escape because its durability decreases in the gas. If an opponent shoots at you on a horizontal zipline, get off immediately and take cover.

What should I do after winning the Gulag, and where can I check changes?

Return near a safe area marked by your squad. Find a weapon, plates and ammunition before trying to recover your old loot. The Season 2 notes and Season 4 notes list changes to stations, contracts and rewards.
