League of Legends Patch 26.15 has been available since July 28, 2026. Riot Games is opening Ranked Season 3, changing LP gains and refocusing Bel’Veth: the Empress of the Void loses some early-game pressure while gaining stronger long-term scaling. For the other major changes, see the latest video game news.

Ranked Season 3 changes the value of a win

Ranked Season 3 begins on July 29, 2026, at noon in each server’s local time. The Victorious mission again requires fifteen ranked wins. Season 2 rewards arrive shortly after launch, while account transfers remain temporarily suspended until those rewards have been distributed.

Valiant Aegis no longer reduces LP losses after a defeat. In exchange, victories grant double LP gains, with no mastery score requirement. Duo queue returns in Master with rank limits; Grandmaster, Challenger and players whose MMR matches those tiers remain excluded from duo queue.

This system places more weight on match results than on individual performance grades. Its success will depend on whether the doubled gains make the loss of defeat protection feel acceptable, especially in uneven matches.

Patch 26.15 changes Bel’Veth’s pace and the rules of ranked play.

Bel’Veth trades early pressure for lasting power

Bel’Veth’s Q becomes more consistent, with a fixed speed and a delay between casts that scales with rank. Her E deals more damage, heals more and interacts better with monsters. Her ultimate loses part of its raw damage, but her form can become permanent at 80 stacks.

A successful invade should therefore be less decisive in the opening minutes, while a Bel’Veth who secures resources becomes a more persistent threat. Junglers will have to weigh duels, camps and objectives more carefully.

Kai’Sa regains passive damage potential in the late game. Maokai deals more damage to monsters and benefits from a better AP ratio on his Q. Zac gains armor per level and reduces the cooldown of his slingshot. Volibear can recast his Q more often at early ranks.

Naafiri, Riven, Sylas and Locke are weakened. Mordekaiser gets a more frequent E, but his stat steal with his ultimate falls to 10%. Riot also fixes a bug that could cause the damage of his Realm of Death to explode.

Item changes reshape several builds

The patch does not establish a universal recipe. For Bel’Veth, preserving resources and reaching objectives becomes more important because those objectives support her scaling. Players should track the 80-stack threshold before forcing an unprepared fight. Against her, delaying camps and objectives reduces the value of her permanent form.

Bastionbreaker now costs 3,000 gold instead of 3,200. Yun Tal Wildarrows becomes cheaper and gains attack speed. Terminus becomes more attractive in on-hit builds through its bonus AD and AP ratios. The Jack of All Trades rune loses adaptive force, so hybrid builds need to be reassessed using the new official values.

The patch affects ranked play, champions, items and alternative modes.

Riot is rewarding progress that survives the early game

Bel’Veth keeps her existing kit, so this is not a full rework. The comparison with an older version remains limited, but the direction is clear: Riot removes part of her early efficiency and strengthens the reward attached to stacks.

For players, the opening minutes can no longer be judged only by Bel’Veth’s ability to win an invade. Her access to camps and objectives becomes central. The editorial team finds the direction convincing on paper, with one reservation: the balance will depend on how often 80 stacks are realistically achievable.

League Classic, ARAM: Mayhem and Arena add their own changes

The patch also launches League Classic, an experience built around sixty champions, older versions of their abilities and a more punishing approach to combat. Riot presents it as a collection of memories from several seasons rather than a fixed return to one patch. Details are available in the official development blog post.

Prestige Magma Chamber Jax and Prestige Magma Chamber Veigar skins are announced for July 29. They are cosmetic and do not alter the core update.

In ARAM: Mayhem, damage modifiers now apply to spells, attacks, items and augments. This reduces the need for several individual exceptions. Warding Weapon, Titan’s Resolve, Earthwake and Chain Reaction gain value, while Critical Missile is weakened.

Arena reduces the maximum level of certain augments to two and strengthens their remaining versions. Critical strike conversion into adaptive force changes from 0.68:1 to 1:1. Players who move between modes will need to revisit some builds. More updates are available in the news section and our esports coverage.

What the first matches will reveal

Bel’Veth’s permanent form will show whether the new scaling becomes a regular win condition or remains a reward for already successful games. Her balance will depend on reaching 80 stacks without restoring her former early dominance.

The new LP system will also be tested by perception. Double gains for victories must offset the removal of defeat protection for players to accept the added risk, particularly in matches with autofill.

League Classic’s long-term appeal will depend on the selection of content Riot ultimately offers beyond the initial discovery period.
