Deployed on August 29, 2026, the Mortal Shell II Week 1 Update is now available following the game’s full launch. It changes progression, exploration and ripostes while addressing issues that could interrupt a run or damage save files. The official note published on Steam details the complete update.

Glimpses and Tarcores are no longer restricted to a finite amount during a run. Players can invest in several Shells and Tarstones without dividing a capped reserve between them. The update also adds Fragile Tarstones: once their durability reaches zero, they break and produce a Tarcore.

Reset a Shell without losing its Glimpses

Mether’s Severance can now reset a Shell and return the Glimpses spent on it. A change of direction during the same run is therefore reversible for the affected Shell, with its invested Glimpses recovered.

Players who upgraded Tarstones before installing the patch should receive a compensatory reserve of Tarcores in their inventory. If a save is already well advanced, check that reserve before continuing to confirm that the compensation was granted.

Exploration gains new beacons in Fainweald and Mammon. They can still be activated only during the daytime, so these additions create new points of interest without removing the need to return at the appropriate time.

Ripostes adjusted, saves better protected

Ripostes now differ in three areas: damage, invulnerability windows and recovery. Player riposte damage depends on enemy health, while invulnerability windows have been standardized. The result is a direct change to how players use combat openings.

The patch also fixes issues involving bosses, weapons and collisions, along with several situations that could lock up the game. These corrections target interruptions to progression as well as combat balance.

Saving receives a new writing mode for already advanced campaigns. Because some previous issues could lead to file loss, the change is intended to reduce the risk of a crash or sudden shutdown erasing recent progress. After installing the update, check both save status and inventory, particularly when compensatory Tarcores are expected.

For the game and its availability information, the Mortal Shell II Steam page supplements the update note. Other announcements are available through the JEU.VIDEO news, accessible from the publication’s homepage.

The Week 1 Update chiefly removes limits from resource management and makes ongoing campaigns safer. Players who have already progressed should verify their inventory and saves after installation, while daytime restrictions on the new exploration beacons remain unchanged.
