PEAK is available on Xbox Series X|S from October 22, 2026, with online groups of up to four players and crossplay with Steam, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Friends on those platforms can play together without switching systems.
The Xbox Wire announcement announces the release as “out today,” without specifying a launch time. The Xbox version includes the content updates described in the announcement, including additional biomes, cosmetics and features. Players starting on Xbox get those additions at launch; the announcement makes no commitment about future updates.
Friends can join from different platforms
PEAK supports offline solo play or online play with up to three other people. Landfall's FAQ confirms crossplay between Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5. The group limit still applies across platforms: crossplay broadens who can join a session without increasing its size.
Console players need a subscription to play online, including when joining friends on another platform. That requirement applies on Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5. Crossplay does not remove it, so players arranging a session need to account for online access as well as which platform each friend uses.
Offline solo play remains available without a subscription. Someone planning to play alone on Xbox can therefore play without subscribing; in a group spread across consoles and Steam, each console participant needs a subscription for online multiplayer.

Crossplay comes without matchmaking
PEAK does not offer online matchmaking, according to Landfall. Players need to organise their own multiplayer group instead of relying on the game to find teammates automatically. The Xbox launch adds another platform from which friends can join, but anyone arriving alone should not expect an automatic search to fill a session.
Steam progress cannot follow you to Xbox
Existing Steam players face a separate choice when moving to Xbox: progress from Steam cannot be transferred to other platforms. Being able to play together across systems does not mean a Steam save can move with you. Someone choosing Xbox for their next session cannot continue their Steam progression there.
Landfall's answer specifically concerns transfers from Steam. It does not establish a general rule for transfers between consoles.
For friends spread across different systems, the Xbox release offers another way to play together. Existing Steam players can join those Xbox friends while staying on Steam and keeping their progress; moving to Xbox means leaving that progression behind and needing a subscription for online play.
