Start with a drop your squad can hold

Ranked does not always begin the same way. EA's official help distinguishes between the Dropship and the Drop Zone, depending on the lobby. In some matches, a threshold of Diamond, Master or Predator players assigns a point of interest before legend selection.

With the Dropship, the Jumpmaster chooses the landing location. Mark a POI the squad can reach and control. A contested hot drop reduces your margin for error when several teams land in the same place.

2. If you are the Jumpmaster, mark a reachable POI.
3. Announce the destination with the ping.
4. Watch nearby squads during the descent.

Loot quickly without splitting the squad

Initial loot should get the match moving, not turn into a solo scavenger hunt. Divide sectors within the same POI to limit backtracking and conflicts over the same bins.

Use pings to signal an enemy, an item or a direction. A precise ping helps the squad regroup, fall back or take an angle. Signal the exit route when the Ring begins to close in.

Your first loadout does not need to be perfect. It needs to let you defend yourselves and reach the next zone. If a teammate lacks a weapon or protection, share a useful item before looking for secondary loot.

Read the Ring before you move

The Ring shrinks and deals damage outside it. The in-game timer should guide your movement. Reach the next zone early enough to choose a position instead of being forced in late.

A rotation takes the Ring, other squads and available cover into account. Before leaving the POI, mark the direction and choose a stopping point. Do not leave a teammate to cross alone.

A player's rotation refers to movement during the match. Playlist rotation concerns the maps available in Ranked. Focus means targeting the same enemy. Gatekeeping means holding a position along another team's route. A third party joins a fight that is already underway. In each case, announce your intention and check that the squad can follow.

1. Identify the target.
2. Check that your teammates can shoot with you.
3. Compare shields, weapons and cover.
4. Look at the Ring timer and the retreat route.
5. Stop pursuing if the advantage disappears.

RP depends on placement, eliminations and bonuses. Healing and revives do not directly award RP. Save a teammate when doing so preserves your chances of placing well and securing eliminations.

Use a simple routine through the match

• Drop: format identified, destination announced and nearby squads spotted.
• Loot: weapon, protection and sharing among teammates.
• Ring: timer read, direction pinged and stopping point chosen.
• Fight: target visible, squad regrouped, cover and retreat confirmed.

An early elimination does not always justify a dangerous rotation. Playing the zone does not mean staying passive. Take space when the squad has the cover, equipment and time it needs.
