For better weapons in Enshrouded Update 7, focus on silver and gold chests. Their Shroud variants offer better chances of legendaries. If you need a replacement while progressing, an unlocked lore weapon can also be crafted at subsequent tiers.

These changes belong to Wake of the Water, version 0.9.0.0, covered in the November 10, 2025 official Keen Games patch notes. The advice and upgrade cap below apply to that historical version; they should not be assumed unchanged in later updates.

Choose between hunting for loot and crafting a replacement

The distinction is straightforward: Keen Games describes crafted lore weapons as less powerful than high-quality loot. Chest hunting is therefore the route to prioritize when your goal is a stronger weapon, while crafting gives you another option when entering a new tier without a satisfactory replacement.

Decide whether you are searching for a legendary, replacing equipment that has fallen behind, or trying a different weapon type. Those goals call for different choices. A legendary hunt points toward particular chest variants; a replacement may already be available through the corresponding craftsman. Wanting to try a greatsword, meanwhile, does not require waiting until later biomes.

Prioritize Shroud variants for legendaries

Update 7 increases the chances of finding epic and legendary weapons in silver and gold chests compared with the previous version. Their variants in the Shroud further favor legendary drops. If legendary rarity is your specific goal, give those variants priority when choosing which chests to search.

Better odds do not guarantee a particular weapon or an improvement over your current equipment. Treat chest selection as a way to focus your search, then assess what actually drops before replacing anything. Finding a legendary and finding a useful replacement are separate outcomes; the change to drop chances does not make them interchangeable.

Once you have emptied a chest, move on to others. Leaving and reloading the world no longer immediately resets it, so repeating that action at the same chest is no longer a way to obtain an immediate fresh drop. Searching elsewhere follows directly from that change.

Craft an unlocked lore weapon at the next tier

You must already have unlocked the lore weapon before using this option. In version 0.9.0.0, unlocked lore weapons become craftable through the corresponding craftsman at each subsequent tier. When you reach a new tier and still need a replacement, check the craftsman associated with that weapon.

This makes crafting a useful fallback while you continue looking for high-quality loot. The practical order is to check which lore weapons you have unlocked, visit the relevant craftsman, and consider the available later-tier version against the equipment you are trying to replace. The unlock is the prerequisite; progressing to another tier does not by itself unlock a lore weapon you have never obtained.

The trade-off is the developer's stated comparison: crafted lore weapons are weaker than high-quality loot. That gives you a reason to keep searching after crafting a replacement, but it does not establish that every looted weapon beats every crafted one. Keep a crafted option in consideration when your recent chest finds have not supplied what you need.

Greatswords can appear from the first biome

Update 7 adds greatswords to chests starting in the first biome. If trying this weapon type is your aim, include the chests you encounter there in your search rather than postponing the search until a later area.

This is an availability change, not evidence that greatswords outperform other weapon types. Separate the decision to try one from the decision to replace your current weapon for more power. A chest can offer a new category to explore without necessarily providing the upgrade you were looking for.

Chest resets and the upgrade cap

Emptied chests retain their state for an unspecified amount of playtime after you leave and reload the world. The reset change rules out immediate refills through reloading; it does not establish a return schedule. Continue exploring instead of treating repeated reloads as progress toward another opening.

Update 7 also raises the cap for fully upgraded weapons to 50. Keep that limit separate from chest rarity: it describes the progression ceiling for this version, while the chest changes concern your chances of obtaining epic and legendary weapons. The cap alone cannot identify which weapon is the best replacement.

Search silver and gold chests, favoring their Shroud variants when you specifically want legendaries. If advancing to another tier leaves you needing a replacement, check an unlocked lore weapon with its corresponding craftsman, then continue hunting for higher-quality loot.
