A full Pokémon GO Bag prevents you from receiving items from PokéStops, Gyms and certain rewards. Before heading out, make room by reducing stacks that are easy to replace, while keeping resources reserved for your next activity.
Make room before spinning a PokéStop

Open the Main Menu, then Items. The counter at the top shows your remaining space. If you plan to spin several PokéStops, do not leave the Bag at maximum capacity.
- Consider the activity you are about to do.
- Keep the items required for it.
- Reduce surplus weak Potions and regular Revives.
- Then reduce common Berries and regular Poké Balls.
- Spin a PokéStop to confirm that you are receiving items again.
Gifts and Stickers do not count towards the Bag limit, so deleting them does not free space. Gyms can provide more battle items, including Potions and Revives.
Events can change your priorities. Check the latest news before deleting Incense, passes or Research-related items.

Protect rare and activity-specific items
| Priority | Items | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Do not discard | Master Ball, Elite TM, Gold Bottle Cap, Lucky Trinket | Keep them because using them requires a specific choice. |
| Keep | Rare Candy, Rare Candy XL, TMs, Evolution items | Keep them until you have a clear powering-up or evolution project. |
| Depends on the outing | Great Balls, Ultra Balls, Golden Razz Berries, Silver Pinap Berries, Remote Raid Pass | Save them for important encounters and raids. |
| Reduce first | Poké Balls, weak Potions, regular Revives, common Berries | Reduce them when they are easy to replace. |
Do not convert Rare Candy immediately after receiving it. Wait until a priority Pokémon genuinely needs Candy. A standard TM randomly selects an available move, while an Elite TM lets you choose the move.
Premier Balls and Beast Balls are used in designated encounters rather than kept as a long-term reserve. An unused GO Safari Ball may expire after its event.
Start with common Berries and healing items
Berries can fill the Bag quickly. Razz Berries make catching easier, Nanab Berries slow Pokémon down and Pinap Berries increase the Candy you receive. Keep Golden Razz Berries and Silver Pinap Berries for specific targets.
Common Berries can also feed a Pokémon placed in a Gym, awarding Stardust and XP. This is often preferable to deleting a large stack without receiving anything in return.
Match your healing supplies to your planned battles. If you have no raid, Gym or Team GO Rocket battle planned, surplus Potions and Revives can go. Before several raids, keep a substantial supply. A fainted Pokémon must receive a Revive before a Potion.
Sort the Bag around your next session
- Catching: keep Balls and a few useful Berries; reduce excess healing items.
- Raids and Team GO Rocket: keep Revives, effective Potions and Golden Razz Berries.
- Few PokéStops: protect Balls, Evolution items and rare items.
- Event: read the conditions before deleting Incense, passes or required items.
Do not activate an Incense merely to gain one space. Its duration may vary by season and event. Save Lure Modules for a PokéStop where you can stay.
Practical articles and our News section can help identify events that change these priorities.
Expand the Bag when sorting is no longer enough
Each upgrade increases maximum capacity by 50 items. The shop displays an individual price of 200 PokéCoins, although bundles and their values may change.
An upgrade is worth considering if you repeat the same clear-out before every active session or regularly miss PokéStop items because the Bag is full. Sort unused consumables first; extra capacity does not solve a Bag filled with items you do not need.
Item effects are detailed in the official item help centre. The limit and upgrades are listed on the official Bag page.
