Battlefield 6’s proximity chat will remain disabled throughout the weekend while the team investigates related problems. The official Steam status update for version 1.4.3.1, published on September 18, 2026, gives no date or time for its return.
status update published on Steam on September 18, 2026The update also separates the issues already addressed from those still being monitored across REDSEC, the Firing Range and Gauntlet.

The notification delay has been addressed server-side
A server-side change has been deployed for the delay affecting in-game interface notifications. According to the team, these messages should now appear instantly. This fix does not restore the missing Zeroing indicator on sniper rifles: its cause has been identified, but resolving it will require a client update. No release date for that update has been announced.
REDSEC matchmaking is stable, but several combat indicators remain unreliable
The team says its data and community feedback point to more stable REDSEC matchmaking since version 1.4.3.1 was released. It will continue monitoring the situation over the weekend, so the update describes an observed improvement rather than a final end to the investigation.
Damage information in REDSEC still needs attention. The HUD can incorrectly show damage values above 100, even though the actual damage dealt is calculated correctly on the server. The problem therefore affects the information displayed to players, not the damage value applied in the match.
Players wearing armor may also fail to receive incoming-damage indicators or directional indicators when they are hit in REDSEC. The team is investigating this issue, which can make it harder to identify where an attack came from while playing.
Some reported problems are limited to specific areas
Missing weapon attachments have been isolated to the Firing Range. The official update states that the issue does not affect live multiplayer or REDSEC matches, so it should not be treated as evidence that attachments are missing from online games.
The out-of-bounds messages that appear near certain vehicle spawn areas are intentional. They are designed to prevent vehicle spawns from being blocked or camped, which means this behavior is part of the current design rather than a bug awaiting correction.
The Interdictor is still being reviewed in Gauntlet
In Gauntlet, the team is investigating damage from the Interdictor that is higher than intended. The stated goal is to bring it back within the intended range introduced with version 1.4.3.0. No numerical values or completed balance change have been announced.
For the full status list, see the official Steam publication for version 1.4.3.1. The practical distinction is clear: the notification delay has a server-side fix, while proximity chat, Zeroing, combat indicators and the Interdictor issue still await further action or monitoring. The update does not provide a timetable for the chat’s return or the required client update.
