Call of Duty has published the PC system requirements and feature details for Modern Warfare 4, which is scheduled to launch on October 23 on Xbox on PC, Battle.net and Steam. The recommended hardware profile targets 90 FPS in multiplayer at high graphics settings; that is a stated target, not an independently tested result.
Players who digitally pre-purchased the game can preload it from October 15 at 9 a.m. PT. Campaign early access is scheduled to begin Friday, October 16, for players who pre-ordered or digitally pre-purchased it. The announcement is fromCall of Duty’s official blog post.

3 PC profiles, from minimum to ray tracing

The minimum configuration requires 64-bit Windows 10, a Ryzen 5 1400 or Core i5-6600, 8 GB of RAM, and 115 GB of SSD space. Supported graphics cards listed for this profile are a Radeon RX 470, GeForce GTX 970 or 1060, or Intel Arc A580. TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are also required to play on PC.
- For the 90 FPS multiplayer target at high settings: Windows 11, a Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i7-8700K, 16 GB of RAM, and a Radeon RX 6600 XT, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or Intel Arc B580.
- For high-quality ray tracing at upscaled 4K: the Ultra profile calls for Windows 11, a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-10700K, 32 GB of RAM, and a Radeon RX 9070 XT or GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with 16 GB of video memory.
The PC version will offer more than 800 customization options across graphics, gameplay, input devices and the interface. The listed upscaling options are AMD FSR Redstone, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, Intel XeSS 3 and Filmic SMAA T2X. Ray tracing is planned for Campaign, multiplayer and DMZ. A Benchmark tool will run a simulated multiplayer sequence and report figures including average FPS, processor, graphics card, ping and input latency.
Changes to visibility and gunfire
Enhanced FOV, exclusive to PC, widens the view near the edges of the screen without changing the central field of view. The game will also dynamically mask muzzle effects at the point of aim, keeping targets visible without reducing the effects’ visual intensity. Depth of field gets separate controls for the world and the weapon.
Call of Duty says bullets will follow the position of the barrel in both hip-fire and aim-down-sights shooting. In previous games, the announcement says, bullets were placed randomly within an area of effect. Updates will no longer require a restart when the game launches, though a restart will still be required between matches if an update goes live during a match.
Launch and access dates
The full game is scheduled to release on October 23 at midnight local time. Call of Duty notes that play time may vary with interruptions and applicable time zones, and that platform availability and the early access start date may change.
The published PC specifications are valid for launch and may be revised later. For now, they give players concrete hardware requirements to check, while the 90 FPS figure remains a target set by Call of Duty.
