The Week 1 Update for Mortal Shell II has been available since August 29, 2026. This first major update after the full release changes how players spend resources, revisit explored areas and recover from technical failures.

One run can now support every Shell and Tarstone

Glimpses and Tarcores are no longer limited during a run. Players can upgrade every Shell and Tarstone in the same run instead of distributing resources across a narrower set of specializations. The complete list of changes may contain spoilers. official announcement on Steam

Fragile Tarstones turn resources into a risk

The update adds Fragile Tarstones, including Glimpse Stone and Egon’s Stone, while making some existing stones fragile. These items can appear multiple times and produce a Tarcore when they break. Egon’s Stone can revive the player at a dungeon entrance and prevent Gloom loss when it breaks, but its durability decreases with each use.

Mether’s Severance makes specialization reversible

Returning a Shell to Zhirelle now allows players to reset it through Mether’s Severance and recover the Glimpses spent on that Shell. The change makes it easier to develop several Shells during one run, although deciding when to use Fragile Tarstones still carries a cost.

Beacons and a teleporter shorten repeat journeys

New Beacons have been added to Fainweald and Mammon. They are active only during the day. A teleporter also appears in a dungeon after the fight against a Grisha, reducing the return trip through that area.

Parries change, while saves gain crash protection

Parry damage now scales with enemy health, invulnerability windows have been revised and the recovery time of several animations has been shortened. The adjustments are aimed particularly at endgame enemies, NG+ and Night Mode, but no numerical multiplier has been disclosed.

The save system has been rewritten so a crash or sudden shutdown does not leave the player without a save. The update also fixes softlocks, collision problems, enemy and boss behavior, weapon and interaction bugs, along with several performance issues.

For runs already underway, the clearest practical change is the more flexible progression economy: testing several Shells within one run is now less restrictive. The exact balance values and the full effect of the parry changes will depend on how those adjustments perform across endgame encounters.
