Once Human will add SOCR - Cosmic Visitor and Snowline Elite Vest after the October 21 update (PT), according to the October 12 Dev Blog. The weapon guarantees a Frost Vortex on the first hit after reloading; the armor adds another activation of the effects triggered by vortex generation.
For players building around Frost Vortex, these additions address different needs: Cosmic Visitor provides a predictable trigger after a reload, while the vest strengthens the effects associated with vortex generation. The choice depends on which function a loadout needs, although their announced mechanics also suggest a complementary pairing.
Cosmic Visitor ties its guaranteed trigger to a hit
With SOCR - Cosmic Visitor, weapon hits can generate a Frost Vortex. The first hit after reloading is guaranteed to generate one, giving that particular hit a reliable outcome rather than leaving the trigger to chance.
The condition is a hit, not simply a shot. Firing after a reload does not by itself satisfy the announced requirement: the attack must connect. Reloading sets up the guaranteed trigger, but landing the hit completes it. That makes the reload-and-hit sequence the weapon’s defining feature for a Frost Vortex loadout.
Snowline Elite Vest repeats effects, not vortices
Snowline Elite Vest activates the effects triggered when a Frost Vortex is generated one additional time. It does not generate an extra Frost Vortex. The benefit lies in repeating the associated effects, so an additional activation should not be read as another vortex appearing.
The vest also increases Frost Vortex damage with each vortex generated, up to five stacks lasting five seconds. That gives its damage bonus both a ceiling and a short duration. Vortex generation builds the bonus, and Cosmic Visitor’s guaranteed post-reload trigger offers a predictable way to contribute to that process.
Choosing a guaranteed trigger or stronger generation effects
The stack limit alone cannot show how much damage the vest adds. The announced details do not specify the size of the increase or how the duration refreshes, leaving those questions open when comparing it with another armor choice. The weapon’s guaranteed trigger is clearer: its value is the certainty attached to a successful hit after reloading.
The practical choice is whether a loadout needs a guaranteed Frost Vortex after reloading or stronger effects when a vortex is generated. Cosmic Visitor addresses the former; Snowline Elite Vest addresses the latter and adds a temporary damage bonus. Their mechanics also give players a pairing to consider after the update, without establishing that it outperforms existing gear.
