Dragonfire Patch 3 is available in Albion Online, the game announced on October 12, 2026. It brings a temporary 15% Fame and loot bonus to the Ancient Lands and Dragon Sanctuary, alongside changes to portal access, rewards and mobile controls.
Small Ancient Lands portals in Yellow Zones become more frequent, but their Fame and loot rewards decrease. Rewards from small portals in Red and Black Zones remain unchanged, according to the official announcement.
More Yellow Zone portals, lower rewards per expedition
The average time between small Yellow Zone portal spawns decreases, and the chance of a portal appearing per region increases. Their lock duration drops to five minutes, while the entry window extends to 10 minutes. These are separate changes: a shorter lock and more time to enter.
The reward reduction introduces a tradeoff for players using these portals. More frequent access does not mean more Fame or loot from each expedition. The announcement does not quantify the reduction, so it does not establish whether the increased availability will compensate for lower rewards across repeated visits.
Large portals also become more frequent, particularly during periods of high activity. Within the Ancient Lands, loot is more concentrated in the Fire Drake's central chest, which also has an increased chance of containing Fire Dragon armor artifacts. The change makes the central chest a greater focus of the area's reward distribution.
Open-world dragons now recover differently after a combat reset. Instead of returning to full health, they recover to the last 20% health threshold reached. A reset can still restore health, but it no longer automatically erases all progress in the fight.

Check the bonus deadline for your server
The temporary 15% Fame and loot bonus applies in the Ancient Lands and Dragon Sanctuary. Announced as lasting seven days, it ends at different times across the servers:
- Albion Asia: October 18 at 23:00 UTC.
- Albion Europe and Americas: October 19 at 10:00 UTC.
Use the deadline for the server you play on when planning around the bonus. These dates mark the end of the temporary reward increase; they are not expiration dates for the portal, dragon or mobile control changes introduced by Dragonfire Patch 3.
Filter mobile targets from the HUD
On mobile, the new targeting filters let you select enemies, allies or party members when switching targets or dragging the attack button. Enable the modes under Settings → Controls → Auto-Targeting, then switch between them directly in the HUD.
The Automatic option chooses a targeting mode based on your current abilities and whether you belong to a party. This provides an alternative to manually choosing a filter as those circumstances change.
A separate option, Double Tap to Self-Cast, appears under Controls → General. It lets you disable double-tap detection, giving you control over whether that input is recognized.
For Ancient Lands expeditions, the lasting tradeoff is easier access through small Yellow Zone portals with lower rewards per portal. Treat the temporary bonus as a separate planning window, using your server's UTC deadline.
