Battlefield 6 has announced Dead Space: Convergence, a limited-time Halloween event scheduled to begin on October 20. Its central addition is Marker Incursion, a new 16-player PvE experience that sends squads through corrupted territory to destroy Marker Shrines and attempt to prevent Convergence.
In its announcement published on October 20, 2026, the team outlines a crossover with playable objectives as well as cosmetic rewards. The announced start date does not specify an opening time.
Marker Shrines drive the fight
Marker Incursion gives squads a concrete task within its corrupted territory: advance through the area and destroy the shrines sustaining the threat. According to the announcement, these structures strengthen the Marker’s influence and attract additional resistance. Destroying them is therefore part of the effort to stop Convergence, giving the Dead Space crossover an objective built around the Marker’s presence.
The PvE format puts the focus on game-controlled opposition and a shared objective for the 16 participants. That player count describes the experience as a whole; the announcement does not specify individual squad sizes. Squads must traverse corrupted territory and tackle structures that reinforce the threat, rather than simply encounter them as background scenery.
The DS-23 Pulse Rifle also appears in Marker Incursion as a Battle Pick-Up. That distinction matters for anyone hoping to add the weapon to a regular loadout: its announced role is a weapon picked up during this experience, while a permanent arsenal unlock has not been confirmed.

Aegis VII and RIG-Certified are challenge rewards
The event’s challenges offer the Aegis VII soldier skin and the RIG-Certified submachine gun weapon skin among their unlocks. These rewards are tied to completing challenges. The announcement names the cosmetics without detailing the associated objectives or completion thresholds, so the reward list alone does not establish how much play each unlock will require.
Other challenge rewards include Dead Space weapon stickers, soldier patches and player card backgrounds. The selection covers soldier appearance, weapon customization and player profiles. Alongside the weapon available during Marker Incursion, these challenge unlocks give players a separate set of cosmetic rewards to pursue through the event.
Marker Incursion brings the crossover’s playable objectives, with shrine destruction at the centre of its PvE experience. Players pursuing the named cosmetics will need to complete event challenges; the DS-23 serves a separate purpose as an in-mode Battle Pick-Up.
