Icarus’s Week 255 update, announced on October 22, 2026, adds the Rifle Turret at the end of the Tier 4 tech tree. It also addresses turret targeting around obstacles, inconsistent mammoth headshots and the accidental lock on Coconut Curry crafting.

The Rifle Turret trades a wider arc for range and power

According to the Week 255 announcement, the new turret fires shots that are twice as powerful and has roughly 50% more range than the Pistol Turret. It uses 7.62 mm ammunition and offers better accuracy, according to the team.

The trade-off is a narrower targeting angle. Greater reach does not mean wider coverage: the Rifle Turret can engage targets farther away, but within a smaller sector. Its orientation therefore matters when positioning it to cover an approach.

The changelog sets its firing interval at three seconds, down from 4 in an adjustment listed under new content. That entry should not be read as a comparison with a previously released Rifle Turret. Likewise, twice the power per shot does not establish twice the damage per second compared with the Pistol Turret, since firing intervals also affect damage over time.

Turret detection should better match the muzzle’s line of fire

The update corrects an offset in the turrets’ perception point that could lead them to attempt shots through walls or low obstacles blocking their muzzle. The fix is intended to align target detection with the turret’s actual firing position, addressing cases where a defense tried to shoot despite an obstruction.

Turrets also receive a critical damage stat so critical hits can apply the expected additional damage. This addresses damage calculation separately from the obstacle detection fix; it does not establish a universal critical-hit multiplier.

Their English names change from “Automated Defense System: X” to “Auto-Turret: X”. These changes accompany version v3.0.33.159137-rel-DangerousHorizons.

Mammoth headshots and Coconut Curry crafting fixed

Misaligned critical-hit zones in mammoths’ heads are also corrected. Those misplaced zones were associated with inconsistent headshots, so the change addresses where a shot registers against the head.

Coconut Curry crafting is re-enabled after being accidentally locked the previous week. For players affected by that lock, the update restores an existing crafting option.

Improvements to searching across tech tiers and Field Guide buttons linking to unlockable blueprints are planned for the following week. They remain upcoming changes, separate from the Rifle Turret and fixes announced for Week 255.
