Monster Hunter Wilds will distribute 20 free edit vouchers on December 3, 2026. The official Steam announcement confirms that 10 Character Edit Vouchers and 10 Palico Edit Vouchers will be added automatically after the update is applied. What changes on December 3
Once the December 3 update is installed, the 20 free vouchers will be added to the existing voucher balance. The announcement does not specify a deployment time or time zone, and it does not indicate a separate claiming step.
Several related products will also be discontinued: the 3-voucher packs, plus the free or trial versions of the Character Edit Voucher, Palico Edit Voucher and Character & Palico Edit Voucher listed in the announcement. This changes how these items are distributed; it is separate from the larger character-editing update planned for 2027.
Existing vouchers remain usable until Ascendance
Players who already have Character Edit Vouchers will be able to use them until the release of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. The expansion is scheduled for 2027, although no precise launch date has been announced.
That leaves a transition period between the end of distribution and the arrival of free editing. Until Ascendance launches, changing a hunter's appearance still depends on the vouchers available to the player, including the 10 Character Edit Vouchers distributed on December 3.
Free, unlimited hunter edits are planned for 2027
The new character-editing system will be included in the Ver. 2 update tied to Ascendance. It will let players change their hunter's appearance as often as they want, for free and without using a Character Edit Voucher. The change will also apply to the base game Monster Hunter Wilds, rather than being limited to Ascendance content.
Players who paid for one of 3 DLC packs will receive a separate thank-you gift automatically after applying the December 3 update:
- Character & Palico Edit Voucher: 3-Voucher Pack;
- Character Edit Voucher: 3-Voucher Pack;
- Palico Edit Voucher: 3-Voucher Pack.
The Special Thank-You Pendant Set contains the Heavenly Hog and Beelzeboar pendants. The announcement also says they could be offered separately at a later date, so the gift is not presented as a permanent exclusive.
In short, December 3 ends the current voucher distribution and adds 20 free vouchers automatically, while existing vouchers remain usable until Ascendance. The more significant change arrives with Ver. 2 in 2027, when hunter appearance edits are expected to become free and unlimited in the base game as well.
