The Mortal Shell II hotfix announced on October 13, 2026 reduces the final boss’s health and doubles player resistance to cosmic sickness during the fight. The hotfix notes also announce a longer wind-up for its grab attack.
Other changes address Tarstone experience from summon kills, summon collisions and a freeze involving Mether’s Breath. In NG+, players can collect three additional ovas in the final slice’s dungeon.
The final boss gives players more time to react
Lower health means less damage is needed to defeat the final boss. The resistance adjustment addresses a separate pressure during the encounter: players receive doubled resistance to cosmic sickness while fighting it. That change concerns resistance to this specific condition during this fight.
The longer grab wind-up gives players more time to react before the attack lands. Together, these adjustments ease distinct parts of the encounter, reducing the damage required to finish it while increasing resistance to cosmic sickness and extending the warning before the grab.
The notes do not specify the size of the health reduction or how much time has been added to the wind-up. The direction of the changes is clear, but they do not establish a precise new dodge window or how much shorter the fight will be.
Summon kills award Tarstone experience
The hotfix corrects a bug that prevented Tarstones from awarding experience for kills made by the player’s summons. For players using summons to defeat enemies, those kills should now contribute to Tarstone progression rather than losing the associated experience award.
A separate collision fix addresses summons that could launch bosses. Grisha and Cursed Child are the examples named in the notes. This correction concerns how summons interact physically with enemies, alongside the fix to experience rewards.
The combination of Barrage and Solnir Shard Tarstone also receives a fix for damage it caused to allies. The announced correction applies to that pairing; it should not be read as a general change to every interaction involving allied damage.

NG+ collecting and the Mether’s Breath freeze
In NG+, three additional ovas can be collected in the final slice’s dungeon. Both the location and the NG+ condition matter: this is a specific collecting change for that dungeon.
Mether’s Breath receives several warnings, and the hotfix addresses a freeze triggered by backing out of its second warning. The correction targets that particular menu interaction, giving players a way back from the warning without the announced blocking bug.
Dungeon loading also receives a fix for slow loads when “seamless dungeon streaming” is enabled. The PSO shader caches and world HLODs have been rebuilt, although the notes provide no measured performance gains for those rebuilds.
The final boss adjustments make a return attempt less demanding in the specific areas changed: health, cosmic sickness resistance and grab anticipation. For summon users, the practical change is that summon kills should award Tarstone experience, alongside corrections to collisions and the Barrage–Solnir Shard interaction.
