A school story built around Mai Chihara
The anime adapts Ryon’s manga, which follows Kuroki, a high school student who finds himself sitting next to Mai Chihara. According to the description from Seven Seas Entertainment, quoted by Crunchyroll, Mai has a reputation as a “landmine girl,” while her personality is described as gentle but strange.
Ryon serializes the original manga in Ichijinsha’s Ganma! magazine, and nine volumes had been published in Japan by the time of the announcement. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in English, giving English-speaking readers an existing version of the story before the television adaptation arrives.
SynergySP leads the television production
Yasuaki Fujii is directing the anime at SynergySP. Keiichiro Ochi is handling series composition, Majiro is creating the character designs, and Alisa Okehazama is composing the music.
For now, the announcement establishes when Japanese viewers should expect the series in broad terms and identifies its core production staff. The exact January premiere date and broadcast time remain to be announced.
