From Far Away will premiere on October 4. Released by Crunchyroll News on September 2, 2026, the new trailer also introduces the adaptation’s theme songs, 4 additional cast members and a new key visual.
The trailer sets the anime’s musical direction
GNJB performs “Tokoko”, which will serve as the opening theme. The ending theme is “Hikari no Soba de” by Nanashi no Taro. These songs provide the first clear indication of how the anime will frame the journey of Kyoko Hikawa’s fantasy manga.
Noriko and Izark remain at the center
The cast now includes Tomoyo Kurosawa as Noriko, Kentaro Kumagai as Izark, Yuichiro Umehara as Rachef, Eiji Takeuchi as Keimos, Kimiko Saito as Gaya, Tadashi Miyazawa as Gorya, Taisuke Nakano as Agol and Miku Ito as Geena.
4 of those additions are new cast members, although the announcement does not specify which roles they will play. The key visual returns to the story’s starting point: Noriko, a high school student transported to a fantasy world, meets Izark after he saves her and eventually becomes her ally. An ancient prophecy nevertheless connects Noriko to the evil sleeping within him, giving their partnership a danger that goes beyond the circumstances of their first meeting.
A 14-volume manga adaptation
From Far Away adapts Kyoko Hikawa’s manga, published from September 1991 to October 2002 under Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume Comics imprint. The series spans 14 volumes and has more than 4 million copies in circulation, according to figures recalled by Crunchyroll.
Noriyuki Abe is directing the anime at Studio DEEN. Rika Takasugi is supervising the series composition, Eiji Abiko is designing the characters and Takeshi Hama is composing the music. The trailer therefore confirms the main creative team alongside the newly announced musical elements.
October 4 is confirmed, but distribution is not
The announcement gives October 4 as the premiere date, but does not specify the year, territory, time or platform. Availability in France and other international markets also remains unknown, so the date confirms when the launch is planned without yet establishing how French-speaking viewers will be able to watch the series.
