Microsoft is marking Xbox’s 25th anniversary with Xbox Gear, community-created designs, a profile badge and a new FanFest tour. The Xbox Wire announcement published on August 24, 2026, confirms the next events and several anniversary additions.
Xbox Gear opens the celebration
Xbox Gear is the new official Xbox merchandise store, available at gear.xbox.com. Three collections are announced at launch: Gloss, Est.01 and Blood Gulch. Xbox also says more releases are planned.
Game Pass brings together Xbox generations
Xbox Game Pass collections will bring together games from the original Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. They will be playable on console and/or PC.
Xbox names Fable Anniversary, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Fallout 4 and Psychonauts 2. The complete list and the required subscription tier have not been specified.
Community designs and the anniversary badge
Klobrille and Ben Kenobi created gamer pictures, backgrounds and a dynamic theme for Xbox consoles. These items have been available since August 24, 2026.
On console, the path is Settings › Profile › Customize profile. To select the dynamic background, open Settings › General › Personalization › My background › Dynamic background. On PC, the gamer picture can be changed from the profile using the pencil icon.
Signing in to an Xbox account on console, PC or in the Xbox mobile app awards the 25th anniversary badge. It may remain displayed until the end of 2026.
FanFest will stop in seven cities
- Cologne, Germany — August 26, during gamescom.
- Tokyo, Japan — September 17, during the Tokyo Game Show.
- London, United Kingdom — September 26.
- Mexico City, Mexico — October 17.
- Sydney, Australia — October 17.
- Toronto, Canada — November 6.
- Seattle, United States — date to be announced.
