The Sims 4’s September 22 update adjusts how Sims behave on their own and adds a free collection of children’s content to the base game. EA lists the update as PC 1.128.90.1030, Mac 1.128.90.1230 and console 2.39 in its announcement.
In the base game, Sims now face each other during conversations and use a sink in the same bathroom as the toilet. Sims with low energy no longer wake up at random to meet hygiene, fun or social needs, and Sims who dislike phones no longer start the idle “Browse Phone” animation. They can also choose from several “Everyday Outfit” options instead of always picking the first one.
Free hairstyles and room content for children
The free base-game collection includes a new hairstyle for children, a ponytail with bangs, and 4 child versions of adult hairstyles. It also adds a Styled Room, Styled Looks for children and a household published to the Gallery by the Maxis account.
EA also adjusted relationship autonomy in the Lovestruck and Growing Together expansions, aiming to better align Family Dynamics and Romantic Satisfaction with players’ expectations. The publisher says feedback from Discord Dev Q&As, Reddit and the most upvoted issues on EA Forums influenced the update.
One fix depends on the save file
A stereo could cause Sims to dance repeatedly in the interaction queue. EA says the issue is fixed in new saves; in an affected older save, replacing the stereo in question should resolve it. The publisher is still investigating other cases of Sims freezing or interactions being canceled, so those problems are not all covered by this fix.
The update also addresses crash issues on Mac and console. On Mac, it fixes a rare rendering problem that could cause a crash during a long session. On console, it changes controller directionality related to a crash that affected many players.
