Valheim’s official patch announcement dated September 11, 2026 separates two updates with different platform scopes. Version 1.0.10 is listed for all platforms and fixes several Deep North issues, while version 1.0.12 is currently marked “Steam Only” in the official announcement. General information about the game is available through the Valheim page on JEU.VIDEO.
The announcement confirms that the 1.0.12 fixes are fully crossplay-compatible and will be extended to all other platforms in an upcoming hotfix. No rollout date has been announced, so console players should not treat the Steam version as a confirmed console release schedule.
Deep North repairs and snow changes in version 1.0.10
The most direct gameplay fix in version 1.0.10 concerns equipment maintenance: heavy armour can now be repaired in the Deep North. The patch also adjusts the damage and healing amounts dealt by Greydwarf Shamans in that region.
Snow interactions have been corrected as well. Punching no longer removes snow, while landing on a snowy area without directly walking over it now causes the snow to disappear. The two actions therefore no longer produce the same result, which matters for players moving through or building in the Deep North.
Version 1.0.10 also updates sound effects for several creatures and for the snow in the Deep North. The official announcement does not list every affected sound, but it places these audio changes within the same all-platform patch.
What version 1.0.12 changes on Steam
Version 1.0.12 addresses a separate group of issues. The Forge of Potential should no longer unlock recipes that are not meant to be available, and a crash that could occur when accessing a zone that had not loaded has been fixed.
Server administrators also benefit from a correction to banlists and whitelists. They now work with older identifiers such as Steam_123456789 as well as newer identifiers such as V_123456789. This removes the compatibility problem that limited the lists to the newer ID format.
The update makes the achievement system clearer after devcommands or mods have temporarily disabled achievements. A popup indicates when achievements can be earned again, and the devcommand yesiuseddevcommandsbutiwantmyachievementsanyway lets players opt into receiving them again. Reactivation is therefore a deliberate choice rather than an automatic change.
Two smaller fixes affect movement around bases and resource collection. The Cart is easier to fit through the Timberwood Drawbridge, while Jotun Puffs and Magecaps no longer keep a pickable appearance after they have already been collected.
An important item-stand warning
For worlds that have not yet been loaded in the 1.0 update, version 1.0.12 prevents items on armour stands and item stands from losing durability or upgrade levels.
The announcement advises players who have already been playing version 1.0 not to remove high-level items from item stands without using backups. That warning applies specifically to the item-stand issue and is worth following before moving valuable equipment.
Platform status and crossplay
At publication, version 1.0.10 is listed for all platforms. Version 1.0.12 is listed as Steam-only, with its fixes planned for other platforms through an upcoming hotfix whose release date has not been communicated.
This staggered rollout does not suspend cross-platform play. The official announcement says crossplay between all platforms remains fully supported; the limitation concerns when the 1.0.12 fixes arrive on each platform, not whether players can continue playing together.
The practical distinction is straightforward: the Deep North, snow, creature-balance and sound-effect changes belong to the all-platform 1.0.10 announcement, while the Forge of Potential, achievement, ID-list, Cart, resource-visual and item-stand fixes are currently tied to Steam’s 1.0.12 rollout.
