War Thunder has opened its 240th Steam screenshot contest. In its official announcement published on September 5, 2026, Gaijin invites players to create a scene around a customized vehicle using a camouflage, decal, decoration or any other element available in the game.
Entries must be new and original, and they must be published in the War Thunder Steam Community Hub before September 11, 2026. The announcement does not give a closing time, so that date is the only communicated deadline for this edition.
Only #WTscreen240 can appear in the title
Every entry must use #WTscreen240 as its sole title. Taglines, descriptions and additional keywords are not allowed. A screenshot that otherwise meets the rules could therefore be rejected if its title includes anything else.
The image must be captured directly in War Thunder, without post-production in external software. Built-in filters, visual settings and replay features are permitted, but enhancements added after capture are not. The rules specifically prohibit Nvidia Ansel filters.
Three winners will be chosen by players and three by judges
The community vote will select three winners, while judges will choose three others. An entry does not need to lead the popular vote to have a second route to one of the six prizes.
The community-vote route has one additional restriction: the same artist can win through that method only once every four screenshot contests. This does not prevent the artist from being selected by the judges, but it limits repeated wins in the player-voted part of the competition.
Each winner will receive 300 GE in their account within 14 business days. The announcement does not state whether GE can be converted into real money, identify any regional requirements or explain the judges’ criteria. Those details remain unspecified.
The entry requirements are therefore straightforward: stage the vehicle in the game, use only the permitted internal tools, confirm that the screenshot is original and publish it before September 11 with #WTscreen240 as the sole title. The contest combines in-game scene creation with community appeal, while the judging route gives qualifying images another chance to win. More gaming news is available on JEU.VIDEO.
