Xbox Cloud Gaming limits will apply in November to the time included with Game Pass. The monthly allowance will depend on the plan: 15 hours for Game Pass Ultimate, 10 hours for Premium and 5 hours for Essential.
The exact start date is not yet known. In its post published on September 3, 2026, Xbox says eligible subscribers can still use Xbox Cloud Gaming without these monthly limits.
3 Xbox Cloud Gaming quotas by subscription
- Game Pass Ultimate: 15 hours of cloud gaming per month.
- Game Pass Premium: 10 hours per month.
- Game Pass Essential: 5 hours per month.
Once the allowance has been used up, players will be able to buy additional hours in the Xbox Store. Xbox has not yet announced their price. Users who regularly play in the cloud therefore cannot yet estimate the real cost of this change or know whether their subscription will still suit their usage.
Players who mainly use Xbox Cloud Gaming will be most affected
Xbox estimates that this measure will affect 4% of Game Pass subscribers. This figure remains the manufacturer's estimate, and Xbox also acknowledges that some players could see their bill increase if their usage exceeds the included hours.
The impact will be most noticeable for subscribers who use the cloud as their primary way to play. Xbox One owners in particular still have a reason to use the service, as it can give them access to certain games designed for Xbox Series X|S without immediately buying a new console. Xbox also says it plans to add new cloud-compatible games throughout the year.
Occasional access will also be available without Game Pass
At the same time, Xbox is preparing an option that will allow users to access the cloud without a Game Pass subscription. Starting in November, it will be possible to buy hours to stream certain games you own, provided they are compatible with the cloud and the device being used.
The details of this offer still need to be clarified: the price of additional hours, the games included, compatible devices, available markets and the method for checking the remaining time. These parameters may also vary by region.
Cloud gaming will therefore remain included in Game Pass plans, but within a monthly limit now set by the subscription tier. For regular users, the most important factor will be the price of additional hours, which remains unknown.
