Euro Truck Simulator 2’s 1.62 open beta is available on Steam, SCS Software announced on 22 October 2026. The update introduces redesigned garages across the base map and all map DLCs, alongside truck and radio updates. Access is through Steam’s public_beta branch.
This remains a test build. SCS Software warns in the official announcement that bugs, instability and crashes may occur: opting into the beta means accepting those risks before the stable public release.
Garages get new interiors and exteriors
The garage overhaul reaches across the game’s geography. New models replace both interiors and exteriors throughout the base map and every map expansion, giving the update a scope that extends beyond a particular truck or region.
For players travelling between different territories, that means the redesigned facilities are part of a map-wide update. The confirmed change concerns the garage models themselves; it should not be read as a measured improvement in performance.
Updates for the Iveco S-Way and DAF XG+
The Iveco S-Way receives the Improved Material System inside its cab. This extends the system to the truck’s interior, making the cabin another part of the visual changes arriving with this beta.
The DAF XG+ gains the Emerald, Sapphire and 30 Years in Czechia editions. These names refer to editions of the truck within Euro Truck Simulator 2, rather than commercial editions of the game.
The Goodyear Tyres Pack also receives a visual refresh. Its paint jobs adopt Goodyear’s updated logo, accompanied by slightly adjusted colours.
There is an audio change too: the team says it has removed tracks from the Escape station that were causing copyright issues and added 11 songs. Streamers should not treat that playlist revision as a blanket guarantee against copyright claims.

How to join the beta on Steam
To access the test branch, follow the route given in the announcement. Steam’s English interface labels are:
- In your Steam library, right-click Euro Truck Simulator 2.
- Open Properties, then Game Versions & Betas.
- Under Beta Participation, select public_beta.
If the correct branch name does not appear, restarting the Steam client may be necessary. Selecting the beta branch is the step that gives access to this test version; the announcement does not present it as the stable public build.
The choice is whether to try the garage redesign and truck updates while testing is still underway. Players who prefer to avoid the warned-about instability can wait for the stable release.
