Heroes III remake is planned for 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Ubisoft is rebuilding Heroes of Might and Magic III in 3D while keeping the campaigns, factions and strategic foundations associated with the classic game.
Ubisoft’s official post, published on August 25, 2026, confirms the release year but not a specific day or month.
Erathia gets a full 3D overhaul
Developed with the Snowdrop engine, the remake will feature a fully 3D world, a free camera, 4K visuals, dynamic lighting, real-time weather and changing seasons. Those additions will change how Erathia’s maps are viewed, but Ubisoft says the turn-based strategy remains at the centre of the experience.
The package will include the original game, the Armageddon’s Blade and The Shadow of Death expansions, the original campaigns and the iconic factions. The announcement therefore points to a visual modernization built around the classic strategic content rather than a new game using only the Heroes III name.
Multiplayer keeps its eight-player format
Multiplayer will support up to eight players, with improved matchmaking, simultaneous turns and Hot Seat mode. Simultaneous turns could reduce downtime during some phases, while Hot Seat preserves an option for players sharing the same session.
Ubisoft is also announcing compatibility with thousands of community maps and campaigns, an updated editor and an integrated UGC hub. That support may have the greatest impact on the remake’s longevity: the original campaigns provide the familiar starting point, while community creations can continue to expand the available content.
Several practical details are still open. Ubisoft has not specified whether PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will share cross-play, nor how older community creations will work in the remake. The exact release date is also unknown, so the quality of this modernization will depend partly on those compatibility and multiplayer details.
Meanwhile, Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete Edition will be available on Steam on August 25, 2026. It offers access to the classic game, whereas Heroes III remake is intended to deliver the new 3D presentation and multiplayer features.
