SWTOR Legacy Reborn brings the Sith arc to a head

SWTOR Legacy Reborn focuses on Darth Jadus, Darth Nul’s holocron and Khar Shian. According to Broadsword’s recap, Heta Kol and the Hidden Chain are already there. Malgus and Shae Vizla are also moving toward the Sith moon.

That setup matters for longtime players. SWTOR still has years of character history behind each scene. It is slower than many modern Star Wars games. Yet its continuity remains hard to replace.

Broadsword also teased a new gameplay angle. During the final battle, players will control different characters. Lana Beniko was shown as one example. That could make the finale feel larger than a standard player-only mission.

What SWTOR Legacy Reborn adds for PC players

SWTOR Legacy Reborn also brings quality-of-life changes. The companion terminal will be disabled. Narratively unavailable companions will move into a clearer Ineligible for Story tab.

Dantooine dynamic encounters are also being adjusted. Wreckage on Dantooine will have cleaner onboarding. The Orbital Core encounter will no longer block the story mission. That is useful for story-focused players.

PvP Season 10 starts with update 7.9 and runs for 16 weeks. Rewards include armor sets, titles, flairs, trophies and decorations. It is not a full PvP reinvention. Still, it gives competitive players a reason to return.

Why SWTOR update 8.0 is already the bigger hook

SWTOR Legacy Reborn matters because Broadsword is already talking about 8.0. The studio confirmed a new story era. It also confirmed level cap 85, gearing updates, combat balance changes and new abilities.

A new three-boss Operation is planned too. It will launch with Story and Veteran modes. Most importantly, Ryloth is coming. The Twi’lek homeworld gives SWTOR a stronger identity for its next era.

Broadsword still has to deliver. SWTOR players can accept an older MMO when the story lands. They are less patient when the content pace feels thin. Legacy Reborn is therefore a test before the next chapter.

SWTOR Legacy Reborn has one localization catch

There is one important catch for European players. English voice work is ready for upcoming content. However, French and German clients will launch Legacy Reborn with English voices and localized subtitles.

Broadsword says dedicated recordings will be discussed later. No date is confirmed yet. This matters because SWTOR built its identity on voiced RPG storytelling. A French client with English voices will feel different, even with localized text.

May rewards also support the return window. From May 1 to May 22, players can earn Star Wars Day rewards in SWTOR. Twitch Drops are active too, including a Dantooine decoration and a Nightshade Hssiss mount when 7.9 goes live.

Should you return for SWTOR Legacy Reborn now?

If you left SWTOR years ago, this is not suddenly a new game. The official Steam listing still presents it as a PC free-to-play MMO with optional subscription content. Still, the timing is strong.

Compared with newer Star Wars projects, SWTOR has a different appeal. Galactic Racer is about speed. Zero Company is aiming for tactics. The Old Republic is still about your character, companions and long-form storytelling.

In short, Legacy Reborn needs to land well. If Khar Shian gives Malgus, Shae Vizla and Darth Jadus enough room, SWTOR can enter 8.0 with momentum. If not, Ryloth will carry too much pressure alone. We will track the story through our latest gaming news, PC coverage and our gaming features.
