The Battlefield 6 server browser is due to begin rolling out shortly after Season 5 Phase 2 launches on November 10, 2026. Originally planned for Phase 3, it will reach a limited group of players first, ahead of a worldwide release that depends on the results of live testing.

In its November 3 announcement, the Battlefield team said the first group would test the browser under load in the live game. The team will check its performance and make any necessary fixes before opening it to all players.

A limited test before the worldwide release

Battlefield aims to complete the rollout stages in around 2 weeks, depending on the test results. The team has not given an exact start date or selection criteria for the initial group. November 10 is the launch date for Phase 2, not a guaranteed opening day for the browser.

Once available, the browser will be accessible from the Quickplay row and will open the Official tab. Other entry points are planned across several menus, including Portal. Players will be able to filter results by map or mode type and sort them by ping, player count, server name or recommendation.

Choosing a server and keeping progression

The Official tab will bring together Battlefield Studios servers and player-hosted official servers. All will award full XP, weapon mastery and challenge progression. Verified experiences will award full XP, while Custom experiences will award partial XP.

The browser, Quickplay, Multiplayer and Custom Search will draw from the same pool of official servers, but the way players join affects what happens between rounds. Those who enter through the browser can stay on the same server through its rotation while it remains active and healthy, or if it is a persistent player-hosted server.

On a server that continually repeats the same map and mode, players who joined through Quickplay or Multiplayer will be placed back in the queue at the end of the round. With Custom Search, a search covering multiple maps and modes can send a player to another matching server if the next map does not meet their criteria.

How player-hosted servers stay active

Player-hosted official servers will run on dedicated servers, so the host will not need to remain in the match to keep them online. An empty server will still appear in the browser, but at least one player must join before matchmaking can start filling it.

Automatic backfill also depends on the active mode. It can apply to modes available in Quickplay or Multiplayer; a mode absent from those menus will not receive backfill until it returns to them. A hosted server can remain active for up to seven consecutive days without a player before being removed from the list. A player joining resets that inactivity timer.

For players who want to follow a server's rotation, joining through the browser offers a different route from matchmaking. Access to that choice will arrive in stages, with the wider release dependent on how the live test goes.
