The Division 2 crossplay is set for November 2026, alongside the launch of Year 8 Season 3, titled Red Horizon. Ubisoft says the feature will let players join the same squads regardless of their platform. The first details appear in the official Red Horizon announcement.
Cross-platform squads are coming, but key details remain open
The announcement directly concerns players who do not own the game on the same platform as their friends. They will be able to form squads without that restriction, although Ubisoft has not yet confirmed which platforms will be compatible or explained how invitations, friends lists and matchmaking will work.
Shared progression is also unconfirmed. Crossplay will allow Agents to play together, but that does not establish that characters, gear and rewards will be accessible on every platform. Ubisoft has not announced the exact November release date either.
Red Horizon adds Cleaners to the open world
The season will introduce the Cleaners to The Division 2's open world. The faction will be linked to the 95 Company, which Ubisoft describes as an Elite Kill Squad, and will intervene during other factions' Retaliations. Exploration will therefore include an additional threat during these events.
The District Mall Inferno will join the Classified Assignments. Georgetown Dead Zone will arrive later in Red Horizon, but no specific date has been given. Ubisoft is also announcing a modifier system with one Global Modifier, 3 Active Modifiers, 3 Hostile Modifiers and twenty Passive Modifiers. Their individual effects have not yet been detailed.
Blackout will make gear differences matter more
The Toxic Dark Zones PvE will remain in the rotation. The Red Horizon variant will reduce the intensity of Toxicity and will not use the season's mechanics.
The Blackout Dark Zone, by contrast, will disable normalization. Gear differences will have a greater effect in combat, making build preparation more important and potentially widening the gap between Agents with very different equipment.
The announcement concerns The Division 2
